Use reviews of the Siemens w295b EQ!

This is a review of the Siemens w295b EQ review(´◔౪◔)◞

This EQ was made in the 1960s.

It is still popular in some maniac circles.

I also made a test sound using the EQ (`・ω・´)

Soundtoys has emulated it under the name Sie-Q.

The actual unit was installed in a Siemens console made in Germany in the 1960s.

Siemens is sometimes seen in Japan for its electrical products, but it used to have a big presence in the European acoustic field.

They are as famous and popular among enthusiasts as Telefunken and Neumann.

Other Siemens mic pres and comps are still traded among enthusiasts.

I was very happy when I found out that Soundtoys had made them into plug-ins.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy what’s inside

Today, Germany is still a leading country in acoustics, but there are fans all over the world (including me) who love German equipment from the 1950s-1980s.

A picture of the inside of a w295b taken a long time ago.

I love the color that seems to improve the sound.

I can enjoy 5 glasses of whiskey while looking at the contents.

Now that I’ve got it tightly integrated into the rack, I can’t take it off easily anymore…

What does it sound like? I recorded it.

What does the Siemens w295b EQ sound like?

I recorded it!

The original sound source is this one that I put together on Loopcloud.

The sound source is mono.

Attention to volume!
Be careful with the playback volume!

There is only one channel of EQ, so the sound source is mono.

Well, Loopcloud is very useful for making experimental stuff like this.

The AI function is amazing.

I didn’t apply any comps or EQ to the original sound source itself.

I used a Prism Titan audio interface for the IN-OUT.

The material I created with the Siemens w295b EQ was

  • Sound just pass it through.
  • Turn the EQ faster (1)
  • Patterns with the EQ turned slowly (2)

These Three files.

Okay, let’s hear it!

Original source

Just let it through

EQ Pattern 1 (turn the knob earlier)

EQ Pattern 2 (Slowly grind the knob)

impressions

Yeah.

It’s withered. It’s well withered.

It’s organic, but not rich, and it has the austerity of Siemens!

You may have to choose which songs to use, but if you get into it, it’s a great texture.

And even though it’s vintage, the S/N is really good…

The highs go up to a point where they don’t hurt your ears even if you turn them up quite a bit.

The lows are raised well when you turn the knob.

In the midrange, there are six bands to choose from, and even if you turn it up too high, it’s hard to get a bad feeling.

The EQ has a texture that makes you want to turn it up rather than use it in a minus(-) direction.

The plug-in SIE-Q has a stepless knob, but the actual device has a stepped knob.

The SIE-Q is not a universal EQ that can do everything, but it is powerful enough to be used as a flavor enhancer!

I personally like to use it to adjust my acoustic guitar.

Even just passing it through without EQing, it gives the sound an edge.

I also want SIE-Q.

I don’t have the SIE-Q yet.

It’s on sale right now, so I might as well buy it.

Soundtoys DEAL Plugin Boutique

It’s cheap again.

Sale is really sinful.

I’d like to compare the difference between the plugin and the actual device as well.

summary

This was a review of the Siemens w295b EQ review.

If you use it chained with a mic preamp, it becomes even more vintage, so it is very useful for songs where you want to add color in that direction.
